Today is my best friend's birthday- my husband, my love.
Today he turns 33 and I have to say it was a pretty laid back and exciting day all in one. We had a wonderful lunch together. Carley and I met him at Chestnut he wanted clam chowder and I had a Chicken salad croissant with fruit- YUM!! Carley and I then went to MaMaw's so that they could make your birthday cake. I was so proud of her- she did such a great job!! She wanted to buy all of the sprinkles the store had- she just might have cake decorator in her future. You came home early to get in a little nap before all you can eat crab legs for dinner with family and friends. That is all you normally request on your birthday: crablegs!
I know to have a birthday three days before Christmas you might not get all of the extra special attention you deserve but the truth is Bert, that you bring a little bit of brightness to the day, the stars shine brighter at night, and it is special all because it is the day that God declared life for you.
Your life has brought many blessings to all who know you. I know for me you truly are my knight and shining armor. Not only did we share such a special life as next door neighbors growing up, we have memories of the past to last us a lifetime and the fun part is just beginning.
Our daughter adores you- wants every second of your attention. Sometimes, I can't even believe that this is really our life- to go through high school, college, and being married for almost ten years and to raise a daughter- it seems like yesterday we graduated. Our life has been an adventure for sure but the best part of my life is you: my best friend, my companion, my husband, the love of my life!!!
Out of all the gifts given tonight, I have to say that the best gift of all was simply you- you are a gift to us! You bring joy, peace, blessing, friendship, love, patience, kindness and gentleness.
A blog worthy note is that unfortunatly you did not get ALL of the attention at dinner. Carley has had a loose tooth since Thanksgiving, and tonight of all nights on your birthday it came out at dinner. She had gotten up from the table- running around to get Gracie and all of a sudden the look on her face was catastrophy: I saw THE tooth fall out followed by tears and blood. We all clapped, and were overjoyed that it FINALLY made its way out. Carley was not to thrilled at first but after we got her cleaned up and took lots of pictures she decided it might not be that bad after all. Our baby lost her first tooth on your birthday- certainly an unforgettable moment.
Well, I suppose we need to get ready for bed. The tooth fairey is coming!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BERT!!
WE LOVE YOU TO PIECES
XOXOXOXO
