
In October my dad and I decided to make pickles. Actually, he has made them before and so he decided to teach me- it was a long long process but in the end well worth it. He bought a bushel of pickling cucumbers we dumped them all out scrubbed each of them with a toothbrush- then we sliced them up and let them sit on ice for a while. We made the pickle juice, stuffed the jars with some family recipe spices and away we went: 32 jars later........ we had pickles. The hard part is we have to wait until Christmas before they are ready. Oh the wait!!! It has been quite difficult to see them everyday and not bust a jar right open. Actually, Carley and I broke the rule and opened a jar last week you know just to test them out I have to say if they are this good now..... I can't wait until Christmas!!!
I think we will have fried pickles for lunch and ham pickle roll ups for dinner on Christmas Day.
