The Story of Us:
Long ago in a land not far away grew a young girl who journaled about prince charming.
She knew he would be kind, compassionate, full of love but yet she did not know his name.
She knew he would be a great provider, a man of faith, a man of courage and ultimate strength but never did she know that God would plant him right next door.
She knew that they would laugh until sunset and dance until sunrise
but never did she know that he would be her very best friend.
(When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires will come to you)
Prince Charming and I began to spend time together in the New Year of 1997. I was a freshman at Carolina and he was a sophomore at Francis Marion. We commuted back and forth to our home towns for weekend visits and my very own next door neighbor began to sweep me off of my feet. We wrote love letters and anxiously checked our campus mailboxes, we made day trips just to see each other smile. We encouraged one another and became the very best of friends. It didn't take long for Prince Charming (PC) to realize he wanted to be in the heart of Carolina so he soon transferred. We walked the brick paths of campus together hand and hand. Tailgated the football seasons out, screamed basketball games into victory and sat in the basking sun at baseball games. We loved every minute of each other. College seems like yesterday and miles away all in the same thought. To think of all the road trips to the lake- summer fun- cases of CD's: we always played 'our song' Deana Carter: We Danced Anyway
Music breathed life into our relationship we had a memory for each and every song the words would come to life in our own little world wherever we were... always together.
We married on the special day of May 27th, two weeks after my graduation, at the tender age of 22 and 23 and haven't looked back since. We have climbed to the peak of the mountains, fallen down the other side, walked in the valleys, and have planted a mustard seed of faith in the shallow waters. God has stood beside us, gone before us, and has even nudged us from behind. Our marriage takes the three of us God, Husband and Me. We don't have it all figured out just yet but the learning curves are making great stories for the generations to come. I am madly deeply truly in love with the man who came alive in the image I created in a white lined paper journal. He is more than the man I ever dreamed him to be. He is a perfect gift from God. He is my heart. my soul. my forever. and my happily ever after.
Here's to Happy Anniversaries everywhere!!!
11 years later we ate, we shopped, we slept, we (he) built, we ate again, we smiled, we laughed, we cuddled, we high-fived, we included our girl in every bit of the day, we turned the lights down and.... we danced anyway!

Very well put. What a wonderful way of wording as you are still writing in that journal! As we know, writing was always your strong point-how do you spell _______? I will always be thankful to you for that. I am assuming that is your screened in porch and your hanging bed looks wonderful! Great job Bert!
ReplyDeleteBTW....it may have started your freshman year but we cannot forget about those good ole red shirts and Central Park! Love it...Happy Anniversary-hope there were no cats running loose!
