Pen Pals

So I have a friend who lives in Indonesia and Carley is pen pals with her children.
In fact, we are overdue for a letter- it is our turn to write back. We have swapped letters from California to Washington and now in need of sending some love to Indonesia. Last night we were fortunate to chat with our friends on SKYPE for freeeeeee. I mean I have heard the hype on Skype and we are head over heals for face time but with the Island of Indonesia being 11 hours ahead of us we never made the moment to meet up .....until last night.
It was our family's first Skype experience and it was totally Awesome !!! Just as I sat down for dinner the phone rang and Mrs. Kristi said hey chick log on to skype and I'll call you....online....
I said, kinda forgot my password gimmie 5 minutes to set up a new one and she said take your time.... Sweet Girl !!
We set it up, dialed it out and on the other side of our screen was my very friend- and her two children and they just woke up !!!! We were eating dinner on Tuesday night and they were waking up at 7:32 am on Wednesday in order to chat. We saw their apartment- their view from the room-talked about the economy in Indonesia- she showed us some Rupiah and we showed off our US coin collection... I asked who their President was... She said I'm not really sure. I told her no worries... I wasn't really sure who our President was either?!? Carley remembered though. Good thing !!
Can you even imagine where technology will take us in ten years?? I am A-mazed!! So technically we were in Indonesia last night. We learned about toilets, and the tides of Bali where you can catch seahorses, rupiah, the cost of legos and littlest pet shops, all toys come from China in Indonesia too, the island has jungles and the beaches in Indonesia are not that clean but Bali is a must see vacation spot.... We dreamed about meeting up in Australia next year.... just a few islands away.
I had pen pals when I was a kid. I love pen pals!!! I highly recommend for your child to have a pen pal- it helps them learn about other states, countries, practice their writing and reading skills, and responsibility and courtesy to write back. Buy a stamp. Mail a letter. and Skype since we are in the 21st century.

  1. Hey! Thanks for the comment! I love your name lol! I've never seen anyone else who spells their name like mine. People always say it wrong lol. Does that happen to you?
