Summer Reading

Where does one find the time to read?
You will never find the time.
You will always have to make time.
Early Saturday mornings you could find me nestled on my hanging bed
turning page after page to absorb the life of Alice Howland in the book
Still Alice
She was a prominent woman
Harvard professor
Wife and Mother
She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in her early fifties
Although the person and the plot of this book was fictional
the story was very real
Every day thousands are diagnosed with Alzheimer's
Alice could be anyone
your friend, your mother, your neighbor, your sister, your wife
your dad, your brother, your grandfather
the disease does not discriminate
which is what brought great emotion while reading.
I cried at the very thought of a precious and prominent woman in our community who is experiencing the very real story of Still Alice.
This book is an insight of finding the new normal
going from ordinary to extraordinary
from the known to the unknown
and end the end
to just
be
you
