TRAIN!!!!!!!

If you ever get the chance to stand 2 feet away from a train moving at high speed, I highly recommend it. You should totally take your camera phone to snap a picture to prove it- and for the children's sake: gently place some nickels, quarters and pennies on the track so that after the train passes with its roar and wind, you can see your change art.  Be careful!! It's hot off the tracks!!!

Ever feel like you have just been run over by a train? I do. Work, deadlines, headlines, morning routines, homework, supper, activities, unexpected visits to the doctor, time, parenting, money, car pools, school.... all of these things can leave me feeling weak and weary.

Just as I feel the train is about to take me down, the Lord provides a whisper of his word just in the nick of time......

1Kings 19:11-12
11 The LORD said (to Elijah), “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper..

In our Bible study today, I learned that we must condition our mind.  If the condition of our mind is worry, doubt, disbelief, critical, judgement or full of busyness, then we are not able to hear the gentle whisper of the Lord. We do have control over what we think.  Our minds should be at peace, calm, quiet, serene and alert in efforts to be still and know in our hearts:: it is well, with my soul.
