Now faith is being sure of what we hoped for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
We celebrated Easter weekend
beginning with Maundy Thursday services in
a wooden Baptist church at Edisto Beach.
We sat in the stained wooden pews and witnessed those
who walked up and nailed their drowning sins
to an old rugged cross at the front of the church.
It was a humbling experience.
Crosses hung throughout the church
and one can only think back
to the day when Jesus was crucified.
I sat in sadness and in sorrow.
Thinking.
What could it have been like to be the son of God
and the son of man?
How awful it must have been to be Mary
who was not able to offer hope for her baby
who was a gift from God-
the promised Messiah
and now nailed to a cross.
I think back to how the night of His birth must have been full of joy.
And the night of his death Mary's heart had to overflow with grief.
And then came the day of the resurrection!!
He died so that He could live
Live with his Father in Heaven
live with His Creator
Live at the righteous right hand of God
so that through him
we may be pure
and washed as white as snow.
The rest of the weekend
we were covered in grace.
We were on Island time
which means we moved slow and
we took in all of God's beauty.
