Dinner on a Stick

I pretended to be a stay at home mom yesterday. I took my best girl to school, went to the grocery store and the bank.  I ran home to unload the groceries, washed a load of clothes, made the beds, cleaned the kitchen and ran back to town to pick up my very own second grader.

After our special lunch, I brought Carley and her best bud, Shields home to play.  The teacher gave the parents home work so I diligently worked on my homework.  I unloaded the dishwasher, reloaded the dishwasher, washed another load of clothes, folded a stack of towels, updated a blog post, gave the girls snacks and started supper.

When I was in BiLo I found Rib eyes for 3.99 a piece.  I thought I was being Punk'd in BiLo.  I read the label three times and thought a) this could be the rib eye from a mad cow and struck with disease   b) surely these rib eye's were mislabeled does that mean 3.99 a pound ? c) I better snatch them all up if they are 3.99 a piece d) the meat is pink and pretty, I thought they only sell discounted meat if it's bad or e) all of the above.

I sliced my cheap meat in order to be skewered.  I chopped red bell peppers, onions and mushrooms and put them on the skewer nice and pretty.  And in case you didn't know, if you soak your wooden skewers a few minutes before arranging them with food, they will not splinter (good to know).  I left them in the fridge to marinate in Lawry's Mesquite and for husband to grill when he came home.

I examined the three rooms that two sweet innocent little girls managed to destroy?!?  I packed them up in the car and headed to church for praise and worship practice.  Two hours later, at 7pm, I made it back home- husband had grilled- made the yellow rice and even sauteed squash, onions, and mushrooms. Nom.Nom. We had a delicious dinner!!! I then helped Carley clean up her room, her play room, the living room, and even the bathrooms.  I tell you these girls had FUN!! I must have missed every bit of it while I was focusing on my chores? We read a story, picked out school clothes and headed to bed........

and it was then that I realized, stay at home moms are my SHero's!!!!
