I have a hairfession.
I am not naturally blonde.
Shocker. I know.
In fact, I could not tell you what my natural color is because since adding color to it
oh say 15 years ago, I have not been able to determine my natural hair color since.
Nor have I been able to find my beach body but that is a whole nother post in itself.
...
Recently, I was fed up with the roots.
Fed up with the well water that turns blonde hair brassy.
No that is being too nice.
Well water turns your hair orange!!
However, since trying to discover my "natural" hair color I have not only effected myself but those who I encounter.
Not kidding!
Let's take a look down memory lane to give you a visual:
Hello Blondie.
Still blonde!
Here I am with bff you can call her Amitha Bawoonki
because that is what I call her.. I don't think she reads the blog so I might be safe to post this picture.
It's Halloween if you can't tell.
Take this quote from me- you heard it here first:
"If you can't laugh at yourself then it will be difficult when others laugh at you"
So you are free to laugh at how wonderfully dressed we are for Halloween.
Flash dance and cat woman meets Barbarian.
Oh lookee here.
I have caramel hair.
And I learned that if I look into the iphone at this angle I have a very slimming face and nice bone structure. But don't loose focus: we are still talking hair here.
And now a conglomeration of short, blonde, medium blonde, and
dun dun dun.... brown hair.
Let me tell you I have not had the nicest of compliments with brown hair but no worries I have thick skin.
For example, my boss was in more shock than my husband. When I went to work with dark hair almost six weeks ago he informed me that he could not get used to me "like this." Um. ok?
So no lie six weeks have gone by and he refuses to make conversation with me-
he will only speak to me if he needs an answer. Weird. Right? It's all in my head I'm sure.
So today he came into my office and asks me if I intend to leave my hair this color?
He was not too interested in hearing my 15 minute shpill on blonde hair verses brunette.
He sighed and walked out.
And if the writers of the show The Office are reading- which I am sure you are... feel free to use this as script material- it is insanely comical or maybe you just have to know my boss?!?
As if that didn't cause a complex.
Do you know that my very on Prince Charming had the audacity to ask me moments before leaving for our family beach trip if I planned to take our family portraits with my hair "that" color. He backed peddled by saying I mean I just didn't know if you wanted it to look "that" way for our pictures? As if that statement offered any relief. He went on to say that he would pay my hair dresser whatever it took to "fix" it. It meaning my hair.
My question was, does "it" need to be "fixed"?
Oh why. Why? Do we ladies care so much about our hair?
I have a hair appointment next week and I am at a loss as of what to do.
Husband keeps hinting he would like short blonde hair.
I like the fact that I have no roots, matching eyebrows, and brass free hair.
Whats a girl to do?!?

I LOVE IT DARK!!!!
ReplyDeletebut i've already told you that :) and we BOTH know i tend to go against the grain.....you know me, if people told me they didn't like it, it would make me want to keep it that way just that much more. HA! how do YOU like it??? that's the most important question....although at this point you probably don't even really know after all the weird comments!!!
i think you're HOT no matter WHAT!
You know what I think! And for the rest of blog world reading... I'm with Nat! I like it dark. It's eastier upkeep for you with no roots to tend to. Plus, if you want a change, change the cut. Other than that awful mushroom hair cut (that we both had in college), I've never NOT liked your haircut. Yes, you look great as a blonde, but you look just as great as a brunette!
ReplyDeleteOh and can I say how excited I've been about your increased blogging!!!!
Loves!
JWC
All you need is color #45754. Wink, wink. I think you have amazing hair and you are absolutely beautiful. You could dye your hair purple with yellow streaks and still look amazing. When I saw you a couple of weeks ago (which I was so excited about) I LOVED your dark hair, but I also love your blondness. Decisions, decisions..... You can't go wrong. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteahahahahaha!! oh, what to do?!?
ReplyDeleteit's a hard balance between keeping the husband happy and keeping yourself happy. i'm sure you'll find the answer!! just know that no matter your hair color, your face stays the same. and your face is beautiful darlin!!
